Workflow Version History
Every workflow now keeps a history of its changes. You can see who changed what and when, look at any earlier version on the canvas, and restore it without losing anything. What's new Until now, there was no record of how a shared workflow reached its current state. If someone deleted a node or rewired a section, the only way back was to rebuild it by hand. Now Pencil records every editing session with the people who made it, so a workflow can't be permanently broken by a single edit. Undo and redo covers your last few actions. Version history covers the life of the workflow. See every version Open History in a workflow and choose Version history. Versions are listed newest first. Pencil groups changes into editing sessions, so a day of work shows as a few entries rather than hundreds. Each entry shows when it was made, how many changes it holds and who made them. Current session at the top shows the changes in progress. To keep a point you might want to come back to, choose Save version from the Current row's menu and give it a name if you like. You can rename saved versions later. Look at a version before you restore it Select a version to see it on the canvas exactly as it was, in read-only mode. Nothing changes until you decide to restore. Click an author on a version to highlight the nodes they added or changed. Restore a version, or start a new workflow from it Click Restore this version and confirm. The workflow goes back to that version, and the restore is added to the top of the history. Nothing is deleted, so you can restore the version you replaced if you change your mind. Anyone else in the workflow sees that it was restored. To keep the current workflow as it is, choose Create new workflow from the version's menu instead. In Run history, Restore this run puts the workflow back to the state a run left behind, including its outputs. A few things to know
  • You need edit access to save, rename or restore. Without it, you can view versions and copy a link to them.
  • You can't restore while nodes in the workflow are running.
  • History starts from this release. Runs from before this release can be viewed but not restored.
  • Very large versions appear in the list but can't be previewed.
