What's new
Until now, credits could only be allocated per workspace. Everyone in a workspace drew from the same pool on a first-come, first-served basis, which meant a single heavy user could drain it and block the rest of the team. Now admins decide upfront how credits are shared, and Pencil holds each person to their limit.
A new Credit Limits page
Credit allocation has moved off the Workspaces page and onto its own Credit Limits page in Settings. From there, you can set allocations for workspaces and workspace groups, and limits for team members, user groups, and user roles. You can also select multiple rows to set limits in bulk.
Limits for people, groups, and roles
You can set a limit on an individual user, or on a group or role. Members without their own limit inherit the group's or role's limit. A user limit can cover specific workspaces or all of them, including workspaces created later. When limits overlap, the most recent change takes precedence.
A warning before anyone is blocked
Admins choose the percentage of the limit at which users receive a warning. The warning appears in the user's Inbox along with their usage, so they know before they run out. Once a user reaches their limit, a "Credit limit reached" notification lets them know.
A hard stop at the limit
Once users reach their limit, they can't start anything else that uses credits, including chats, until an admin raises it. Blocking is on by default, but admins can turn it off for an allocation if they'd rather track usage than stop work.
A few things to know
- Only subscription admins can see the Credit Limits page.
- Users with no limit of their own, and none inherited from a group or role, draw from the workspace's credits as before.
