Part 3
⌨️Keyboard Shortcuts
The Editor now has a proper keyboard shortcut list! This builds on standard behaviors in the editor, and also introduces a couple of new capabilities. For example you can now: Cut, Drag a selected item locked to x/y axis, and Bring to front / send to back. You'll find the full list in a new pop-up modal accessible from the top nav dropdown.
🌀Scroll to zoom now works on the Editor canvas, in line with Infinite Canvas and Workflows.
- Scroll in or out to zoom on the spot your cursor is pointing at
- Rulers adjust in real time
- Side panels (chat, generate, settings) stay put
🚧 Safezones are back
- Toggle Show Safezone / Hide Safezone from the format's three-dot menu
- It's not editable, and it's never included in the exported file
- Available on prebuilt formats only
🖌️The Canvas Settings panel is now persistent on the right-hand side of the Editor. This makes it easier to find Print Mode Settings, as well as accessing the background colour and grids options.
🍰 Layer Renaming - It is now possible to rename layers via the three dots against each layer on the right hand panel.
🖨️Print formats now accept cm or mm, as well the existing pixel/inch options. The format card and exported file name update to reflect the unit you chose.
🥅 Feeds: We have improved the review of items in the feed variations view.
- Larger preview modal so you can view generations in a much better way Zoom in on the preview using the zoom selector.
- Video playback controls on video creatives
⭐Enhanced Preview Flow
Previewing content is now much simpler! The new preview modal gives you a bigger, cleaner look at content. Click on the preview icon on the thumbnail so you can view the result without adding it to the canvas. You can also view metadata related to the image and prompt, as well as manage the labels on the preview modal - making it easier to access and sort your generated work. Then, you can add to the canvas to continue editing if you want to.
💫Improved flow for images as references or start / end frames
We’ve simplified the process of moving from one generation to the next - by enabling easier chaining of generations within the editor. These also work on the asset panel. On the Work tab, you can now easily choose a generation and select ‘Use as reference’ to quickly generate a new image or video, based on the original. This is alongside the ‘create video’ option, which allows you to set it as a specific frame of the video to generate. On the generation panel, we have also added the ability to select image references directly from your work / asset library, on top of the previous upload function.
🔒Unlock aspect ratio for Shapes
Resizing a shape no longer forces you to keep the original aspect ratio. You can now pull width and height independently, using the same handles you already know, so layouts are more flexible and you can stretch, squash, or fit elements without jumping into a separate tool. This should allow for a more flexible approach to creative steps, particularly with regard to masking and other combinations.
🧩Versioning in Display Ads
You can now save, name, and restore milestones of your work in the Display Ads Editor. Every time that you save an edit, a version of that work is added to the version history list. Each card carries metadata, a thumbnail, and a quick action to restore that point in time. Versioning is already live within the Ads Editor.
Part 2
New Format Flow
- We have introduced a new format selection flow to make it easier to choose and manage your creative sizes.
- You can now choose formats such as Instagram Story or YouTube Shorts, helping you quickly select the right formats for your use case.
- Custom sizes are also available, so you still have full control when working outside of standard placements.
- Currently, you can only select one format of the same size per creative - however this is a known limitation and we are working on enabling multiples of the same format soon.
🟣 Button Improvements
- Buttons now come with text included by default, making them quicker to use without additional setup.
- When resizing a button, both the shape and text will now scale together, ensuring consistent formatting and reducing the need for manual adjustments. You can also now break text into multiple lines within buttons, allowing for more flexible layouts.
- You cannot yet vary these layers on feeds - but that will also be rolling out later this week.
✂️Improved Video Trimming Experience
- When you apply a video to the canvas and open the trimming modal, you will now see a film strip preview with thumbnails.
- Previously, this appeared as a grey strip. However, the new visual preview makes it much easier to identify key moments in your video and trim content more accurately.
Part 1
📐 Rulers
We are moving towards much better pixel level control in Pencil - therefore we have introduced Rulers to aid in your design flow. You can turn these on/off via the top navigation - and you will find them along the edges of the canvas. On right click - you can change measurements between: Pixels, Inches, Centimetres, Millimetres. When you select a layer it is highlighted in the ruler to show the exact placement.
📏Guides
You can now drag guides from the rulers directly onto the canvas. Click the ruler and drag them into place with pixel perfect accuracy and maintain consistent spacing across your design. The guide values will update based on the Ruler values. In future we will look to enable snapping to these guides too.
✅ Flip Layers Horizontally or Vertically
You can now flip visual layers horizontally or vertically from the layer settings. This allows you to quickly mirror assets or adjust layout direction without reuploading or editing the source file. Supported layer types include: Images, Buttons, Shapes, Video layers.
🟤Independent Corner Radius
You can now round individual corners on shapes and images independently - allowing for more complex layouts, UI elements and creative shapes directly in the editor. Supported layer types include: Images, Buttons, Shapes, Video layers.
💚Templates Shortcut on Empty Canvas
When landing on an empty canvas, you will now see a Templates chip directly below the canvas. Quickly jump into a starting point instead of facing a blank editor, making it easier to begin creating immediately.
↪️Switch Between Static and Video Creatives
You can now more easily switch from a static creative into a video creative directly in the editor. Easily evolve a static concept into a motion creative without rebuilding your design from scratch.
We have unlocked the ability to add any video tool to a static ad - making your workflow simpler. You can use Video generation, Music, voiceovers, AI animation, or animation presets - and the ad type responds dynamically. You can also find the ‘Create Timeline’ button in the bottom right corner, which will convert the ad manually. This is helpful if you want to start from a timeline feature such as Keyframes.
When switching formats, all creative sizes in the work will convert together, not just the currently selected format. In order to revert back to a static, you can use undo to turn a newly created video back to a static ad.
