When you duplicate a published workflow template, every Send to Canvas node now gets a new, empty Canvas of its own. Items from your runs land in your workspace instead of the template author's Canvas.
What's new
Until now, a duplicated template kept pointing at the Canvas the author built it with. Every copy sent its items to the same Canvas, and you had to create a Canvas and reconnect the node yourself before the template worked end to end. Now the duplication does that setup for you.
One new Canvas per Send to Canvas node
Duplicate a published template that contains Send to Canvas nodes. Pencil creates a new, empty Canvas in your workspace and connects it to the node. If the template sends to more than one Canvas, each one gets its own new Canvas. Nodes that sent to the same Canvas in the template share one new Canvas.
Run it and see your items
Run the duplicated workflow and the items arrive in your own Canvas, with no setup. The new Canvas is named after your duplicated workflow. When there is more than one, the node name is added to the end of each name.
A few things to know
- This applies when you duplicate a published template. Duplicating a workflow inside your own workspace works as before.
- The new Canvas is empty. Nothing from the author's Canvas is copied.
- You need permission to create Canvases. Without it, the duplicate is still created, but the node isn't connected to a new Canvas.
